Rocking through the ages: Aerosmith

After the announcement of an Aerosmith reunion tour set to start June 2012, I think it’s safe to say that Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, Brad Whitford, Tom Hamilton and Joey Kramer will continue to rock us through the ages. The guys have just about finished their much-anticipated next album, due out sometime this month, and are also juggling side projects to boot. The Village was thrilled to host Joe Perry in Studio B while he was working on the score for the upcoming G.I Joe film, “G.I Joe: Retaliation” in theaters 2013. Scott Smith engineered and Jeff Gartenbaum assisted on the session.

Kate Earl Charmed Us With Her Third Studio Album

It’s hard to stand out in LA amongst the swarms of singer/songwriters trying to get their big break, but it probably helps if you are a Filipino/Welsh/Dutch from Anchorage, Alaska with killer musical chops. Her name is Kate Earl and she has charmed the masses with her melodic folk/pop, probably inspired from her childhood filled with piano lessons and church choir performances. Her music has been featured on hit TV shows like Private Practice and 90210 and she is currently working in Studio J towards the completion of a new album. Kate is jamming alongside Josh Deutsch from Downtown Records, engineer Vaughn Merrick and assistant Eric Denniston to wow the world with her 3rd record.

Rachel Crow after the X-factor

When The “X” Factor premiered in the US for the first time last year, Rachel Crow was first in line to audition. Literally… she was the first contestant to audition in front of the judges. It was a good thing she did too because this precocious 13 year old belted her way to the top 5 with challenging hits like “Run To You” by Whitney Houston, “If I Were A Boy” by Beyonce and “I’d Rather Go Blind” by Etta James. After an emotional elimination from the show, Rachel attacked her career head on and as a result, signed a recording contract with Columbia, secured a spot touring with Big Time Rush and landed a guest starring role on Disney’s “Fred: The Show”. This month, she was in Studio J working with engineer Jared Nugent on perfecting her 5 song EP due out at the end of June, so do what Rachel would do and be the first one in line to get a copy!
